- Back before the traditional Saturday night tournament parties at bars, Dolphin used to host dances at venues such as Thompson Community Centre (1988-89) and Scout Hall (1987)

- Collapsible rims were first used in the 1989 tournament
- There was a push to add a second court to Dolphin Park in the late 1980s and again in the late 1990s, both times it was denied by the city of Richmond.
